Course Overview

This course is designed to provide learning and understanding of the biological, psychological and social changes in elderly population and the challenges in rehabilitation falls management. At the end of the course, participants will be able to understand the risk factors of falls, the methods of assessing falls risk and be competent in walking clients up and down stairs.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, the learner is able to:

  • Anatomy and physiology of the older person
  • Challenges faced in rehabilitation for older person  and falls management
  • Types of rehabilitation available to decrease falls risk
  • Competent in teaching stairs climbing

Who should attend

  • This course is opened to all nursing aides, therapy assistants and care staff.

Mr Atienza Sedfrey Del Moro (Tom)
Senior Physiotherapist & Senior Trainer, St Luke’s ElderCare

Mr Tom Sedfrey graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (Philippines) in 2005. He has more than 10 years of working experiences as a practicing physiotherapist in ILTC sector in Singapore. His areas of interest include neurorehabilitation (Stroke & PD) and geriatric rehabilitation.

The full course is $261.60 (including prevailing GST). Prevailing course fee subsidy at 90% for Singapore Citizens/Permanent Residents and 45% for work pass holders working in eligible community care organisations.
