Media Release

Singapore, 13 March 2023St Luke’s ElderCare (SLEC) organised our annual Partners Appreciation Day 2023 on 11 March 2023 at Paradox Singapore Merchant Court. Attended by close to 450 guests, this year’s theme, Journey Together, Enrich Lives’, conveyed a message of gratitude for the collective effort of partners who have played an important role in enriching the lives of the elders at SLEC. The memories built and imprints left on the lives of those touched by their work have been significant.

A total of 86 partners were honoured across three categories namely the new partners award, long-service award, and commendation award for partners who supported SLEC in 2021 and 2022. Recipients of the event included Johnson & Johnson Pte Ltd, Sembcorp Marine Pte. Ltd., Singtel, YouthCorps Singapore, 42nd Battalion, Singapore Armoured Regiment, and Yishun Health.

“Through SLEC, we are given the opportunity to serve and share God’s love with the elders. It’s a privilege to listen to their needs and pray with them individually, and to see the joy on their faces as they sing happily and loudly during the singing sessions. Being able to interact with them brings us a great sense of joy and contentment, said Ms Elice Tan, Outreach Ministry Staff at Ang Mo Kio Chinese Methodist Church (AMKMC).

AMKMC has been a partner of SLEC since April 2022. The partnership started with weekly Zoom sessions, followed by bi-weekly sessions conducted by two teams of their young adult volunteers. Last Christmas, AMKMC organised a festive in-person Christmas carolling event with the elders at SLEC Residence@Ang Mo Kio which marked the start of their in-person visitations. They have since continued these visits monthly, spreading joy and building meaningful connections with elders.

Since the resumption of in-person volunteering in May 2022, SLEC has expanded its community of volunteers by about 25%, from 1,123 to close to 1,400. Their supportive presence and dedication are integral to the expansion of services and the co-creation of meaningful programmes for the elderly.

SLEC looks forward to continuing its journey with partners and building on the strong relationships that have been forged.
