Course Overview

The first part is about Standard and Transmission-based Precautions as it provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding infection control practices. By establishing this understanding first, learners can grasp the fundamental concepts essential for effective infection prevention.

Following the foundational understanding provided in previous unit, Outbreak Management introduces more advanced topics related to managing outbreaks of infectious diseases. Learners can then apply their foundational knowledge to real-world scenarios, developing critical thinking skills in re-sponding to outbreaks.

Communication and Reporting Abilities. This unit integrates infection control knowledge with communication skills, emphasizing the importance of effective communication and reporting in infection prevention and outbreak management. By placing this unit last, learners have the opportunity to synthesize their understanding of infection control principles with communication strategies, ensuring they are well-prepared to contribute to a culture of continuous improvement in infection control practices.

• Utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) effectively
• Implement transmission-based precautions in healthcare settings
• Perform proper sterilization and disinfection of medical equipment and instruments
• Identify unusual exfoliated skin conditions and respiratory secretions
