Course Overview

This course is designed to provide learners with basic knowledge and skills to walk through the journey of care for persons living with dementia and their caregivers.

This module will cover the following:
  • Describe what is dementia, signs and symptoms
  • Understand how dementia at different stages impact persons living with dementia and their caregivers
  • Apply Person Centred Care (PCC) approach in daily life
  • Facilitate holistic activities to promote independence and abilities
  • Demonstrate effective communication techniques for successful engagement
  • Identify care and support for end of life needs of persons living with dementia
  • List community resources available to support care of persons living with dementia

Our trainers possess the relevant qualifications and experience to develop and deliver the training courses in their domain areas. Most of them have attained Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA) certification or is certified with WSQ Diploma in Adult and Continuing Education that qualifies them to design and develop a learner-centric and industry-specific training programme and competency-based assessment.

 

Mr Vincent Teng
Trainer, St Luke’s ElderCare

Vincent has more than five years of experience as Centre Manager at St Luke’s EldeCare Senior Care Centre. Currently, as the Trainer with SLEC, Vincent conducts both eldercare and caregiver training. He has completed the Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA) training in 2016.

Mr Atienza Sedfrey Del Moro (Tom)
Senior Physiotherapist and Senior Trainer, St Luke’s ElderCare

Tom Sedfrey graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (Philippines) in 2005. He has more than 10 years of working experiences as a practicing physiotherapist in ILTC sector in Singapore. His areas of interest include neurorehabilitation (Stroke & PD) and geriatric rehabilitation.

  • Upon successful completion of this course, you will obtain a Certificate of Achievement
  • This course is stackable towards:
    Certificate of Accomplishment in Managing Common Rehab Conditions (Intermediate)

Course Fees

The full course fee is $700.00 (including prevailing GST).

For learners working in eligible community care organisations (CCOs), the course fee subsidy is as follows:
