Course Overview
This course is designed to provide learner with basic understanding of fracture and the acute fracture management of clients. Rehabilitation of common fractures in the ILTC sector will be discussed and a practical skills session focusing on early mobility & safe exercise (indication, precaution and contraindication) during the recovery phase of fracture. At the end of the course, participants will be able to competently ambulate clients with fracture and apply safe and proper procedures in walking aid education to clients and walking aid application to clients.
Course Objectives
- Define the meaning of fracture and the different types of fractures.
- Describe how to manage client with fractures (general surgical management).
- Identify the types of mobility aids.
- Demonstrate the use of mobility aids.
- Describe the needs of good biomechanics for client and self.
- Use organization policies and procedures in safety of walking aids.
- Demonstrate the use and maintenance of walking aids.
