Common Assessment Tools in Community Care (MBI, AMT & EBAS)

Course Overview

This course is tailored for community care staff, providing them with the essential knowledge, skills, and practical tools to effectively administer commonly used outcome measures in community settings, including the MBI, AMT, and EBAS. Course Objectives

1. Define MBI as a tool used to evaluate a person’s ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs)
2. Explain MBI in its 10 domains of functional activities & interpret the MBI form.
3. Evaluate the impact of conducting outcome measure in a valid and reliable way.
4. Administer MBI assessment by observation and appropriate questioning.
5. Compute MBI score accurately.
6. Describe the purpose and scope of the AMT in assessing cognitive function in elderly individually.
7. Demonstrate the ability to administer the AMT correctly, adhering to standardized protocols.
8. Analyze AMT scores to identify potential signs of cognitive impairment or dementia.
9. Explain the role of EBAS in screening for depression, particularly in time-constrained settings.
10. Demonstrate the ability to administer the EBAS effectively and empathetically.
11. Analyze EBAS Depression results to determine the need for further psychological assessment or intervention.
12. Identify potential barriers to accurate depression assessment and strategies to overcome them.
