Course Overview
The course is about ethical professional practice as this forms the foundation of nursing care. It allows the learners to understand the importance of duty of care and respecting the Elders’ culture, autonomy, dignity, and confidentiality. This knowledge portion is supplemented with an asynchro-nous e-learning unit to reinforce how ethical professional practice can be used in communication.
This module will cover the following:
- Demonstrate effective communication, problem-solving techniques and ethical professional practice within the healthcare teams
- Apply evidence-based practice when performing nursing care
- Assist in performing comprehensive health assessment for elders
- Apply appropriate interventions when providing care after assessment of client condition
- Assist in preparing and performing diagnostic investigations and treatment
- Assist in discharged and referral procedures to provide continuity of care
- Assist in supervising and guiding new/junior staff in providing care to elders
