Intergeneration Outing at Garden's By the Bay

Happy Children’s Day!

On this day, St Luke’s Eldercare partnered Air Amber for a day of intergenerational activity that involves seniors from Ayer Rajah Centre and children from Melrose Home Children Aid Society and Ramakrishna Boys Home.

The day began at Ayer Rajah Centre where the children meet up with seniors from the centre and are each presented with a handwritten note and a balloon by the seniors. This gesture mark the beginning of their time together.

Following that, the group head to Gardens by the Bay and enjoy the “Autumn Harvest” floral at the Flower Dome. It is a fulfilling time for our seniors and a time of learning for the children as both generations share quality time together amongst the flowers. Both gain greater confidence as they learn to interact with one another while completing a simple task together.

The day end back at Ayer Rajah Centre when the seniors and the children build a mini ferris wheel together to learn the scientific concept behind how gears work. Through the day’s activities and time spend together, genuine relationship is forged over fun and learning!

We would like to extend our warmest thanks to Air Amber for putting together this wonderful and meaningful event, as well as Gardens by the Bay for their kind sponsorship for the entrance tickets!
